Designing security into intelligent buildings

Article Abstract:

The inclusion of security systems should be a part of the development planning of intelligent buildings. Intelligent buildings are defined as those with integrated sensors and automated reactive systems. In integrated systems, an event discovered in a system sensor will also register in another system. Intelligent security systems include automated alarm point monitoring, distributed processing card access systems, computer-matrix-controlled circuit television and biometrics identification systems.

Agent-centered restrictions: clearing the air of paradox

Article Abstract:

Samuel Scheffler and Shelly Kagan have proposed arguments against agent-centered restrictions which are defined as the moral prohibition from the performance of an action that will result in the best available state of affairs. An attempt to eliminate the paradoxicality and irrationality of agent-centered restrictions is conducted by showing that the argument is a failure and that the diagnosis of this failure presents ways to rationalize restrictions which are hypothesized to be impossible.
