Distributors calculate the cost of road tolls

Article Abstract:

Some distribution companies are very concerned that the introduction of toll roads into the UK would increase their costs whilst others welcome tolls as a way of providing funds for road maintenance. Some observers suggest that the introduction of toll roads will not relieve congestion and may force road users onto the toll free trunk roads. Rail freight charges could become more competitive if distributers had to pay additional charges to use the roads. The DOT has been examining operating equipment for toll roads since 1995 and trials have been undertaken in selected areas.

A whole new ball game

Article Abstract:

The image of the football club is changing in the UK from community facility to big business. In the 1980's there was a trend for money to be sought through partnerships with retail and leisure developments but these seem to be failing in the 1990's. The succeeding trend is movement into the big business league. Five clubs have already been floated on the Stock Exchange and others are planning this step, top executives are entering the sector and there are new ideas on how to increase profits connected with the sport.
