A walk from the wild side

Article Abstract:

The industrial and office property market in the Teesside region of England has been boosted by the efforts of the Teesside Development Corporation, which has transformed a neglected urban area. The region's new strategic centre for offices is the 250 acre Teesdale site, which also includes a college and residential accommodation. The scheme has a good location at the centre of Teesside, and offers advantages including generous car parking provision, ease of access and a pleasant environment. However, the scheme's success has been at the expense of the Middlesbrough office market.

Teesside's ticket to the ball

Article Abstract:

The retail and leisure property market in the Teesside region of England are buoyant, thanks partly to the success of out-of-town shopping schemes. The success of out-of-town centres such as the Teesside Retail Park has attracted leading retailers to the region, and has also spurred towns in the region to act aggressively to help them compete with the out-of-town developments. For example, Middlesbrough is seeing new development and a revamp of an existing shopping centre, while Hartlepool has been transformed by ambitious leisure facilities and improved shopping facilities.

High tide for developers: do changes in dealing with contaminated land mean that the tide is about to turn on developing waterside housing?

Article Abstract:

Waterside residential schemes are popular, helped by the general rise in the availability of brownfield sites, many of which are in waterside locations. However problems associated with waterside sites can include contamination, and the nature of the waterway walls. The standard of reclamation required for residential use is higher than for other uses and this has an impact on cost.
