Green leanings

Article Abstract:

Ecologically friendly office buildings are predicted to become more popular as owners and occupiers begin to realise that green buildings are more economical to run. A 30% reduction in energy requirements is anticipated for the Building Research Establishment in Watford, England, which has been designed to save energy. Some observers suggest that the use of natural ventilation in preference to air-conditioning may save around 80,000 pounds sterling. Natural ventilation also has a positive effect on the health of staff but it may allow a building to become too hot in the summer months.

Clear opportunities

Article Abstract:

The decision by LIFFE not to relocate to a 0.8 ha site in Spitalfields, London, England, has had a significant impact on many small concerns that had made plans on the basis of the relocation. Spitalfields Development Group is optimistic about the site's potential, believing that it will meet additional demand from large users, especially as it is very close to the City of London. Groups that could take over the site instead of LIFFE include Arthur Andersen and Bankers Trust.
