Blinded by rape myths

Article Abstract:

A recent decision by the CA 1st District Court of Appeal shows clear recognition of the disastrous effect of gender bias in the courts, but the need for such a ruling points to a persistent problem. In Catchpole v Brannon, the judge blatantly exemplified the full spectrum of symptoms of gender bias. A variety of other recent cases, while less classic, also show the terrible effects judicial gender bias can have, both on administration of justice and on the lives of women raped or murdered.

Institutional portfolios: diversification through farmland investment

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the viability of investing in farmlands as part of an institutional portfolio. Results show that farmlands have the ability to enhance such portfolios even in the presence of stocks, bonds and other portfolio holdings. In addition, diversification improves portfolio performance for investors across variances in farmland annual return through cash rent.
