A year in suspense

Article Abstract:

Several office schemes are being constructed in the Blackwater Valley, England, but completion will not take place before the end of 2000 at the earliest. There is a shortage of office accommodation in the area, and the amount of industrial property being developed is limited.

Splendid isolation

Article Abstract:

The real estate industry in Macclesfield, England, is largely driven by local demand. However, the refurbishment by Magnus of its 2,016 sq mt Sovereign Court development has attracted interest from further afield. It is unlikely that there will be any speculative development, even though the many secondhand offices which are currently available are attracting little interest. There is some demand for industrial property, but no land is really available for industrial development work.

Maidstone stands firm

Article Abstract:

The development of the Fremlin site in Maidstone, England, as a shopping centre will allow the town to continue to attract shoppers despite the competition posed by the Bluewater development. The Fremlin scheme could lead to an oversupply of retail property, but there is still a shortage of industrial space in Maidstone. The office property sector remains weak, with no growth in rents. However, the stockpile of supply is declining.
