Article Abstract:

Some property experts suggest future speculative development, in the UK, will be curtailed due to the instability in the worldwide financial markets. Others are concerned the threat of a recession may adversely effect the market. Demand for space in the South East of England is still strong. Some 51% of speculative industrial space being built, during Sept 1998, is located in the South East. Only 8% of speculative development is taking place in Scotland. It has been suggested the amount of speculative industrial space under construction is only 3.2 million sq ft.
