Ready for the 21st century: today's high-tech Pennsylvania

Article Abstract:

Three things are working to make Pennsylvania an attractive place for commercial and industrial relocation in the 21st century: its strong pro-business economic policy, economic and social infrastructure to support business and the deregulation of the electric utility industry. Pennsylvania's strong pro-business attitude has allowed the state government to pass attractive economic incentives for industrial and manufacturing relocations, as well as support for worker training. The state has also supported the networking between private and public institutions which can help employers get the best in technology and worker training. Such a strong pro-business attitude has allowed Pennsylvania to diversify its base from its manufacturing base into a high technology base.
