Rebuilding a chunk of post-war Britain

Article Abstract:

Exeter, England, was extensively redeveloped in the 1950s, but plans are now being drawn up to make a fresh start in the city centre. The key element in these plans will be Land Securities' proposed Princesshay scheme. Progress is already being made towards establishing Exeter as a regional centre, especially following the decision by the South West of England Regional Development Agency to base itself in the city. However, there is still no real speculative development.

Valley of dearth

Article Abstract:

Demand is outstripping supply of new office property in the Blackwater Valley area alongside the M3 motorway in Southern England. There are few sites of large dimensions so as soon as a major site becomes available a large occupier takes the entire site. Office rents are 17 to 19 pounds sterling per square foot. Industrial space is also in short supply, but demand is weak in this area. There is strong demand for leisure space.
