Shoppers move north

Article Abstract:

The retail market in Belfast, Northern Ireland, has been boosted by the large influx of shoppers from the Irish Republic which has taken place since the beginning of the ceasefire. This has in turn led to a rise in demand for retail units, and there are now very few units available in the prime retail area, based around Donegall Place. Rents are now rising, with zone A rents at Donegall Place now around 1,938 pounds sterling per sq mt.

Journey towards success

Article Abstract:

The UK government is keen to reduce traffic on the roads by encouraging distributors to use the railway. The opening of the Channel Tunnel has helped considerably. One of the main problems to face developement is the limited facilities in Europe.

Handle with care

Article Abstract:

Local councils, training and enterprise councils and development corporations must be prepared to go to great lengths to persuade companies to stay in the area. Local councils and the business community should be aware of company activities and plans and address any problems if a company is considering leaving an area, due to lack of suitably trained staff or inadequate infrastructure.
