Site envy

Article Abstract:

Demand for office space in Redhill and Reigate, Surrey, England is strong as the nearby Thames Valley has insufficient sites and is more costly. Office rents in Redhill and Reigate may reach 27 pounds sterling per sq ft for the space in the Tunrose House building. Some 50,000 sq ft of office space is under development in Reigate. Redhill has a shortage of space but three office developments have been planned for the town. It is hoped the 150,000 sq ft of office and retail space, planned for Brabazon House, will encourage a large company to come to the town.

From overture to a full chorus

Article Abstract:

Retail activity in the Midtown area of London, England, is focused on Covent Garden, which has become famous for niche retailers. There is strong demand for large retail buildings in Covent Garden, but some observers fear that providing such buildings would push up rents and therefore drive out the niche retailers, thus changing Covent Garden's character. The Royal Opera House is planning to create retail space at its building at 51-54 Long Acre, having already made planning applications on its two buildings in Floral Street.

No longer squeezed

Article Abstract:

There has been a severe shortage of retail property in Truro, England, for many years, and this has pushed up rents. However, the local council has now resolved to recommend approval for Royston Leigh's 15,793 sq mt scheme at Lemon Quay, where the anchor store may be taken by Marks & Spencer. It is also possible that Longwood Estates' planned retail scheme at the north end of Pydar Street will go ahead.
