Swing to the south

Article Abstract:

There is little high quality office space available in the traditional office locations of City Square and Park Row in Leeds, England. This means that occupiers seeking larger office accommodation are turning increasingly to the south of the city. British Land's Criterion Place site on Sovereign Street offers the space to develop 24,619 sq mt of offices, while Wilson Bowden has begun work on a 9,290 sq mt office scheme at Victoria Square. Property agents report that some companies are postponing relocation plans because they are locked into leases on secondhand buildings in the city centre.

TV stars boost reception

Article Abstract:

Plymouth, England, has been successful in attracting a considerable number of call centre operators. It is the largest commercial centre in a region where there are relatively high levels of unemployment, and therefore offers a large workforce. However, some property agents believe that there is a shortage of suitable office space in Plymouth, apart from Langage Business Park. The lack of space is prompting developers to consider refurbishment opportunities.

New premium

Article Abstract:

Privilege Insurance was strongly aware of the need to choose a site close to the centre of Leeds, England, when considering where to locate its new head office. It eventually chose a 6,970 sq mt office building at the Victoria Gate development. This is close to the city centre on the banks of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. It is purchasing the building, which will have six floors and will be able to accommodate up to 900 people, on a pay-as-you-go basis.
