Taken to the limit

Article Abstract:

Some speculative development of industrial buildings in Glasgow, Scotland, is beginning to occur as the Glasgow Development Agency (GDA) gradually finds high quality areas for industrial development. The area around Glasgow Airport is increasing in popularity with developers, with a 140,000 sq ft speculative development under construction. Some developers are prepared to speculatively build industrial premises on GDA sites, such as Arlington's Glasgow Business Park. The 429 acres of space designated for development by the enterprise zones is nearly completed, with only 140 acres left.

Unfair distribution

Article Abstract:

Representatives of the Industrial Development Board of Northern Ireland (IDB) have defend their work against criticisms from local agents by pointing out there is a shortage of development land therefore the IDB has to act responsibly when releasing land. Local property agents accused the IDB of not allowing distribution companies sufficient land. Some agents suggest the lack of good condition property makes any speculative development worthwhile. A 1998 study accused the IDB of not gaining enough investment in poor areas. Some 1,300 acres of land is owned by the IDB.
