Technology advances

Article Abstract:

Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe found that it was eligible for regional selective assistance when it decided to relocate in Birmingham, England. It received 1 million pounds sterling from the UK government towards its relocation costs, and used a team of four companies to find a suitable site. It eventually found a 3.9 ha site on Birmingham Business Park, which offered good international connections. It was able to construct a building in only 10 months, and believes that it made considerable cost savings through building its own facility.

Controversy crowns royal vision

Article Abstract:

The new village of Poundbury, Dorset, is the brainchild of the Prince of Wales, whose vision of a sensitively arranged environment has been questioned by those directly involved with the development. Local views towards the development differ, with some questioning the development's layout and others defending it. The village's commercial sector is also developing, with the opening of a new chocolate factory and plans for a photo-electronics factory.
