The United Kingdom

Article Abstract:

A study has found the UK is a very important location for countries wishing to trade in Europe and it is one of the most popular areas for business acquisitions. There is some concern the failure to join the European Monetary Union may reduce the number of foreign firms setting up in the UK. Some observers are concerned the Regional Development Agencies may not be able to adequately promote the UK to overseas companies. The UK accounts for over 40% of investment in Europe from the US. There was 160 billion pounds sterling worth of foreign-owned investment stock, in the UK, in Mar 1997.
