The art of high office

Article Abstract:

The British Council of Offices' (BCO) new Pres, Ken Dytor, may be the BCO's youngest-ever president, but he believes that his drive and enthusiasm will help him achieve his ambitious targets. Dytor's main task is to restructure the running of the BCO, which will involve creating a full-time secretariat and setting up a new committee on finance and investment. Dytor also wants to develop the BCO's education and training programme, and to widen the BCO's membership base by focusing on the regions and by improving customer services.

The three tenures

Article Abstract:

There are a number of indications that property developers are becoming more involved with the arts in the UK. John Ritblat has given 1 million pounds sterling to endow a treasures gallery at the new British Library, while design expert Stuart Lipton has been appointed to the board of the Royal Opera House and Elliott Bernerd has been given the responsibility for the refurbishment of the South Bank complex. All three men have a long history of links with the arts, but have until recently not made this public knowledge.

Rebel with a cause

Article Abstract:

Andrew Huntley is the Chairman of Richard Ellis Inc. Before March 1997 he expects the company to incorporate and this will enable Richard Ellis to restructure and expand its areas of expertise, such as in finance and commercial real estate. The incorporation will result in staff changes and fewer opportunities at partner level. Andrew Huntley anticipates that most large firms will incorporate in order to diversify into other areas such as asset and facilities management.
