Time to develop the partnership

Article Abstract:

Wincanton Logistics has an annual turnover of 552 million pounds sterling. It is a logistics outsourcing company which has several major UK companies as its clients. Wincanton is looking for new greenfield sites. Development Director Paul Clarke predicts they will need an additional 100-200 acres during 1999-2001. He suggests companies must become more involved in sharing road transportation with other firms. Clarke points out a number of factors are important when choosing a site, such as level of employment in the area, access to the motorway system and the shape of the site.

Striking it lucky

Article Abstract:

Mixed views are being expressed about the prospects for 10-pin bowling as a leisure activity in the UK. Pub and leisure operator Scottish & Newcastle believes that 10-pin bowling has significant potential, and plans to launch entertainment facilities including 10-pin bowling as an attraction. However, some observers believe that standalone bowling alleys are becoming less successful. This is because it is very expensive to fit out bowling facilities and the throughput of people is lower at a standalone bowling alley than at a larger leisure and entertainment centre.
