Time to steer a new path

Article Abstract:

Some observers suggest business park developers will need to be more flexible when considering facilities for transport, in order to make provision for different types of transportation. Others point out planning permission may not be forthcoming if transport issues are not faced early in the planning process. The UK government is likely to introduce restrictions on parking. Some developers point out the government has not paid for more public transport. Many workers will be looking for alternative forms of transport to travel to work, such as bicycles and public transport.

Air superiority

Article Abstract:

Around 250 million pounds sterling is being invested on development schemes at Luton Airport, Luton, UK, and surrounding sites, with the investment enhancing general business confidence in the area. Luton has previously experienced an image problem, but the town has become increasingly marketable due to its good infrastructure, low rents, new leisure facilities and new rail station. Economic uncertainty is making tenants reluctant to enter long lease agreements, however, which has subsequently hampered development, say some agents.

Developments make a splash

Article Abstract:

There is still considerable uncertainty in the UK about the factors that exert most influence over the success of waterside development schemes. However, it is becoming clear that such schemes must be integrated with their surroundings if they are to be truly successful. Waterside development must also be accessible to leisure facilities and services. A number of new trends are emerging in waterside development, including innovative approaches to funding.
