Whose land is it anyway?

Article Abstract:

Many property owners in the UK are finding it increasingly difficult to battle against the highly developed tactics used by organized gangs of squatters who know every detail of the law on trespass. The squatters use latest technology to exchange information about vulnerable vacant buildings, and often cause extensive physical damage. The law against trespass makes it a criminal offence to force entry into a vacant building, but squatters are aware that the police will take no action unless they have proof.

PFI finds PACE not hot enough

Article Abstract:

The replacement of Property Holdings with Property Advisors to the Civil Estate has disappointed many within the private investment industry because it is not expected to be able to dynamic enough to speed up the British government's Private Finance Initiative process (PFI). The PFI argues that its organisation has changed substantially since 1995 and that it is much more efficient than its former self. PFI is becoming more widely used within Britain although the private sector is still exhibiting a reluctance to invest time and money in projects.

Toxic blockage: lack of government guidance is blighting the treatment of contaminated land, forcing the property industry to make a move while Labour dithers

Article Abstract:

The property industry is awaiting definitive action from the Department of the Environment relating to the implementation of the Environment Act 1995, and guidance on contaminated land. The RICS has published its own contamination guidance note to help surveyors face up to the issue of contamination. However there is concern about the lack of clear universal standards for land clean-up and some environmental organisations are developing their own certification procedures.
