Travel terminals are set to dominate

Article Abstract:

UK planners and developers believe that in the future public environmental considerations mean that the availability of public transport will be a major factor in choosing business locations. They forecast a move away from traditional city centre offices towards massive business parks which will be built around railway stations and airports. However, a 1995 survey showed that UK firms rated rail infrastructure only the 13th most important factor in their location decision, with nearness to an airport only 14th.

The main role of the building manager is to ensure maximum return on the building for the landlord, balancing income from tenants against expenditure on the fabric and fittings.

Landlords to lobby EH on new listing proposals

Article Abstract:

English Heritage's policy of listing modern commercial buildings will drastically reduce portfolio values and eliminate redevelopment rights, according to property companies. English Heritage has recently issued a catalogue of 40 post-war buildings which could be listed, but property owners are hoping to have their views taken into consideration before any firm decision is made.
