Understudy takes the stage

Article Abstract:

Industrial development in Liverpool, England, has been slow with about 2.75m sq ft of space without industrial occupants. Some speculative building schemes are in progress or in planning, such as the Bootle Martime Enterprise Park which has found occupiers of 10 of its 24 units. The Speke Airport development site is planned to offer industrial space for major companies. It is predicted that the European Union and English Partnerships will grant around 60 million-80 million pounds sterling to the development project at Speke Airport.

Developing a different flavour

Article Abstract:

The town of Burton upon Trent, England, is well-known as a centre for brewing, but in recent years the local economy has diversified to include small engineering companies. Demand for industrial units has been driven by such firms, but developers are hoping that competitive land prices and land availability will attract larger manufacturers to the area. East Staffordshire is hoping to benefit from the development of the M1 (M6) road link.

Spending its way out of recession

Article Abstract:

The retail property sector in Liverpool, England, is now improving after a few years of poor economic conditions. Retail space in Liverpool amounts to 2 million sq ft. Although many retail buildings have several storeys, only first, ground and basement floors are let, and the rest remains empty. Office occupiers are unwilling to rent them.
