Western wonder

Article Abstract:

Bakers Dolphin are planning to open more outlets for their travel and coach business during 1997 and expect to continue opening up to four new shops each year. The company is also buying a 13,746 sq ft building near Weston, England, as its new headquarters. Bakers Dolphin use Osmond Tricks to find new locations for their shops. They prefer outlets of between 500 sq ft and 1,000 sq ft which will not cost more than 70,000 pounds sterling to refit. They are not willing to spend more than 50,000 pounds sterling on rents. Bakers Dolphin has placed two units within ASDA supermarkets.

Positively bridging the gap

Article Abstract:

A recent survey has revealed that 60% of Bristol occupiers expect the city of be affected by the opening of the Second Severn Crossing. Improved communications are expected to boost business, although 35% of respondents believed that business may be affected detrimentally by the regeneration of Cardiff. Suggestions for encouraging existing companies to remain in Bristol included improvement of public transport and reduction in rates/rents.

Perception is the key

Article Abstract:

The town of Gloucester is generally seen as historical, and has therefore found it difficult to attract commercial occupiers. However, efforts are now being made to change these perceptions, particularly targeting potential industrial and distribution occupiers. There could be more than 400 acres of land available for new development by the end of 1996, and this will not be filled simply from local demand.
