More money, fewer barriers to affordable housing

Article Abstract:

The federal budget proposed by U.S. President George W. Bush includes two FHA initiatives to expand homeownership opportunities. Multifamily development also gets a boost with a $10 million increase in FHA loan commitment authority, to $35 million, and reduced insurance premiums on FHA multifamily development loans.

Experts suggest that there will be a boom in the market for energy saving houses. This trend will be reinforced by the current rise in electricity prices, the Californian electricity supply problems and the increase in concern for the effects of global warming.
