Aalborg Marine Boilers Service Mgr. John Karlsen believes that chemical treatments alone are not enough to ensure a complete solution to the boiler corrosion problem. Although multi-chemical boiler water treatments are indispensable, their use must be combined with a daily maintenance procedure for the condensate and feedwater systems. Moreover, the whole system should be efficiently monitored at all times. Several tips on proper boiler water treatment are provided.

The Barn Owl Trust will give advice concerning adapting barn conversions to encourage barn owls to nest. Owl experts point out having owls in an attic does not cause problems, is inexpensive and can be very worthwhile. A study by the Barn Owl Trust has predicted there will be no suitable sites for barn owls, by the year 2011, if the decline continues at its present rate. Many barn owl sites are lost due to barn conversions.
