Cambodia in 2004: An artificial democratization process

Article Abstract:

Cambodia in the year 2004 continued its difficult labor of democratization with slow economic growth as compared with previous years, and continued to be heavily concentrated in urban areas. Further, elite infighting, the assassination of a prominent trade union leader, and the maneuvering of a king to ensure the safety of his dynasty dominated the political landscape during the year.
