"Last Austrians" in "turn of the century" works by Franz Grillparzer, Joseph Roth, and Alfred Kolleritsch

Article Abstract:

The protagonist of the "last Austrian" in the work of the authors Franz Grillparzer, Joseph Roth, and Alfred Kolleritsch is analyzed, and these embody all that is most characteristic in the times ending at their respective fins de siecle. The multiethnic identity and supranational ideals of the Austro-Hungarian empire die in these works and the self-fragmentation of modern times results.
