Living Lessons: The evolving racial norm in the novels of Anne Tyler

Article Abstract:

An examination on the way in which Anne Tyler depictions of African Americans characters and American-African American relationships have evolved since the period considered by Alice Hall Petry is presented by focusing on the six novels, which Tyler published between 1988 and 2004. In his these six novels he implicitly endorses ideals of racial equality, integration, and harmony that she did no so clearly embrace in her earlier novels.

Intersecting oppressions and the emotional paralysis of the working poor in Anne Tyler's " Average Waves in Unprotected Waters"

Anne Tyler is recognized for wining Pultizer prize- wining novels. Her works are related to family members , but in " Average Waves in Unprotected Waters", Tyler examines the intersecting oppressions faced by her own, who also happens to be a single mother.
