Minor Lee Rogers (1930-1991)

Article Abstract:

Minor Lee Rogers served as a missionary with the Episcopal Church in Japan and became a specialist on Japanese Buddhism. He established himself as one of the finest teacher and forceful leader in the development of East Asian Studies at Washington and Lee University. He created exchange programs with Rikkyo University in Tokyo and Kansai Gaidai in Hirakata which enabled students to study abroad. He was a grantee of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for work at the Center for World Religions at Harvard. He wrote publications on Japanese Buddhism and was completing a book on Rennyo Shonin (1415-1499) at the time of his death on August 5, 1991.

Approaches to the politics of economic growth in Southeast Asia

Article Abstract:

Economic growth in some Southeast Asian countries has been the result of the free-market policies each country has implemented. A major influence in the policies enacted are the criticisms and analyses from the academic sector. These scholars working in the field of political economics can help government develop and implement policies that will facilitate further economic growth.
