Thailand in 2003: riding high again

Article Abstract:

The reform in Thai political and economic landscape dominated by the Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in 2003 is highlighted. Thaksin has succeeded in moulding all the aspects of Thai life, providing fast growth to the Thai economy through his combination of populist and strong-arm policies.

Democracy and the Thai middle class: globalization, modernization, and constitutional change

Article Abstract:

The passage of the 1997 Constitution, which was more closely linked to economic globalization than modernization, is the greatest advance for Thai democracy. Arguments for and against globalization in Thai democracy are discussed.

How federalism influences India's domestic politics of WTO engagement: (and is itself affected in the process)

Article Abstract:

The complex relationship between globalization and federalism is examined. Domestic political forces' reaction to the "multilateralization" of key areas of policymaking is significantly influenced by India's federal system.
