Article Abstract:

A study examines the Buddhist revival in China as an ongoing interaction between religious actors and the state apparatus of religious control. It focuses on the revival of the Nanputuo temple through the interaction of key organizational actors like the temple and its clergy leadership, the Religious Affairs Bureau, and the China Buddhist Association, which played a crucial role in representing Buddhists to the state and administering Buddhists on behalf of the state.

Women's class mobility and identities in South Korea: a gendered, transnational, narrative approach

Article Abstract:

South Korean women's symbolic, economic and memory resources during the post-war era can only be determined by observing their household's mobility and certain aspects of their premarriage lives. These aspects, including the gender ideologies of women, were, however, greatly affected by patriarchy. Families, households, gender, nonmarket elements and transgenerational factors are essential elements in understanding the identity and class mobility of South Korean women.
