100 massacres, 10,000 dead - a catalogue of killing reveals the horror of Kosovo

Article Abstract:

The UK government has released details of massacres of ethnic Albanians in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, by Serb forces. It is thought that there were 100 massacres in the period Mar 25, 1999, to Jun 10, 1999, with at least 10,000 ethnic Albanians having perished. The massacres included the killing of 40 Kosovar Albanians by Serb police and paramilitary units in eight villages in the Lipljan area on Apr 18, 1999, and the execution of 12 Kosovar youths aged between 12 and 16 in the village of Izbice on May 15, 1999.

Serbs killed in clashes with Nato peace force

Article Abstract:

There is considerable tension in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, as Nato forces begin to establish a presence in the province. The Russians are refusing to allow Nato to take control of Slatina airport in Pristina, Kosovo, while British troops shot dead a Serb in the same city. There has been violence in Prizren, Kosovo, where Serb soldiers came into conflict with incoming German K-For troops. German troops shot two Serbian paramilitaries who attempted a suicide-bombing mission.
