The big, bad multinationals are really the good guys of global investment

Article Abstract:

Some observers believe that extensive investment by multinational companies in developing countries can bring negative results. They point out that multinationals are becoming increasingly stateless, thus making them less accountable to a specific government. This view is in fact based on misguided assumptions. Multinationals can actually have a positive impact, especially because they tend to have more highly developed environmental and social policies than smaller ones. When investing directly in developing countries, they very frequently offer attractive pay and conditions.
