A different kind of experience

Article Abstract:

A network of science and technology visitor centres is to be created in the UK to mark the millennium. These facilities, costing a total of more than 600 million pounds sterling, will serve to allow the UK to catch up with other countries which have a better record of bringing ordinary people into contact with contemporary science. The centres will cover a range of sciences, including biology, geology and astronomy. Most will focus on technology or innovation, and some will have an element of local heritage.
