A prescription for good health

Article Abstract:

More than 6 million people in the UK are now covered by healthcare cash plans, and the market is worth around 250 million pounds sterling a year. These plans, which have fixed benefit limits, meet part of the cost of dental treatment and eye tests, and also pay out if the policyholder is required to spend time in hospital. They are not an alternative to private medical insurance, as they are unlikely to offer enough money to meet private medical costs.

Why health insurance should be judged by its cover

Article Abstract:

Those considering taking out a health insurance policy or changing an existing policy should take account of a number of key issues. It is important to check whether the policy offers cover for pre-existing conditions and whether there are any restrictions on the hospitals in which the policyholder can be treated. Attention should also be given to the procedure for claiming under the policy and to the customer complaints procedure.

Prepare now for your care later

Article Abstract:

It is important to be aware that it may be necessary to make financial provision for long-term care in later life. The best approach to funding such care is through pension and investment income. It may be worth considering long-term care insurance, although these policies can be expensive, particularly if the full cost of care fees is insured. A care-linked bond can be used as an alternative to paying premiums monthly or annually.
