A problem with tolerance

Article Abstract:

A working party has been formed in Cardiff, Wales, to consider the possibility of creating a tolerance zone where prostitution and kerb-crawling would be permitted. The working party's existence remains largely a secret, with the police and the county council being reluctant to become openly involved in such a sensitive matter. Jill Coles, who works for the health authority as an outreach worker for prostitutes, believes that street prostitution will always exist, unless it becomes possible to change men's behaviour. She feels that prostitution initiatives should focus on making prostitution as safe as possible.

She was no sooner dead than ...

Article Abstract:

People who fall in love again very soon after the death of their spouse can face widespread criticism. Many observers feel uncomfortable, believing that the deceased has not been properly mourned or even that he or she did not have a very central place in the remaining partner's heart. Bereavement can bring particular problems for men, who do not tend to have the same support network to which women can turn, and this means that men often form a relationship with a women who is initially a friend or carer.

She wouldn't be seen dead with the Spice Girls

Article Abstract:

Lara Croft is a computer game character who has become very popular. She appears in the game Tomb Raider from Core Design. Her popularity is linked to the size of her cartoon breasts. Some critics are concerned about the way that violence and female sexuality are linked in the game, and fear the images could be absorbed. There are players who appear to see Lara Croft as a real person, and there are requests for her to appear on a chat show, though she does not exist.
