Back street to catwalk

Article Abstract:

The Muslim community does not accept modelling as a profession, according to 21-year-old French-born black model Adia. Her Muslim beliefs play a key role in her life, and this distinguishes her from many other models. She does not drink or smoke, and still lives with her family in a small council flat on a run-down estate on the outskirts of Paris. She had a very strict education, and found it hard at first to act naturally when posing for photographs.

Walk back into the party

Article Abstract:

The Halston fashion label was extremely popular in the 1970s, when it was closely associated with a look which emphasised glamour, gloss and sleekness. Halston himself faded from public attention and died in 1990, but his name is now to be revived. The first Halston collection since his death will go on sale in autumn 1997, building on the mass-market Halston Lifestyle 'career-wear' range which is already being sold in department stores in the US.

The shoe. The bra. The chase

Article Abstract:

Fashion is a very significant part of life in Milan, Italy. This is particularly the case during the annual Fashion Week, when the city attracts large numbers of fashion editors. They are keen to shop in the most fashionable stores, especially Prada and Gucci, and are willing to spend large sums of money to purchase the latest fashion items. Key items for the spring 1998 season include kitten heel shoes with a narrow, chiselled toe from Gucci.
