A woman's heart and its silent symptoms

Article Abstract:

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is considered a male disease, although one in four British women a year die from it. The same number of women under 65 die from CHD as from cervical and breast cancer together. Prevention and diagnosis are neglected as doctors discriminate against women. A study of 23,707 patients by the health services research unit of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, England, found that women were offered fewer operations than men. Women at risk may have a high level of triglycerides in the blood.

Look - two hands!

Article Abstract:

Pianist Leon Fleisher began to suffer from repetitive stress syndrome (RSI) in 1965, and since that time has become well-known as a pianist who plays with only his left hand. However, he has recently started to regain the use of his right hand as a result of stretching exercises recommended by his wife, who is also a pianist. Much more is now known about RSI, and Fleisher believes that the condition can now be prevented from developing.
