Air Chief Marshal Sir Frederick Rosier

Article Abstract:

Air force officer Frederick Rosier took a short service commission in 1935. He spent three years with 43 Squadron, piloting the Hawker Fury and then the Hurricane. He took up a permanent commission, and on the outbreak of the second world war joined the 229 Squadron. He remained in Germany until 1946 as part of the occupation forces, and then attended Staff College and spent a year commanding the fighter station at Horsham St Faith, England. He became Director of Plans at the Air Ministry in 1958, and in 1961 became Air Officer Commanding Air Forces Middle East.

Can you provide me with a picture of Frederick Rosier in uniform at the time of the Battle of Britain? I wish to add it to the illustrations in the reprint of my book Dowding and Churchill. The Dark Side of the Battle of Britain (Pen and Sword, 2008)

Air Marshal Sir Kenneth Hayr

Article Abstract:

Air-force officer Kenneth Hayr was born in Auckland, New Zealand, in 1935.He studied at the RAF College Cranwell, and became Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) during the Falklands campaign.

Marshal of the RAF Sir Denis Spotswood

Article Abstract:

Air-force officer Denis Spotswood was born in 1916. He entered the RAF in 1936, joining 209 Squadron in Feb 1938. He rose through the ranks, becoming Chief of the Air Staff in 1971.
