Ankara stand to gain in vacuum left by Moscow

Article Abstract:

The break-up of the Soviet Union led to a power vacuum in the Balkans to the west of Turkey and in the Caucasus to the east. Four of the five Soviet republics in Central Asia speak Turkic languages. The new republics of Central Asia seek capital and technology but Turkey is not rich and has few high quality scientists.
