Article Abstract:

It is vital to take action to ensure that the year 2000 computer date change problem is managed effectively in the UK. The government is playing a role in this process, and is currently turning its attention to ensuring that small and medium-sized companies understand the importance of making their computer systems year 2000-compliant. The UK is playing a leading international role in addressing the year 2000 computer date change problem. Initiatives have including making it a priority for the 1998 G8 meeting and for the UK's presidency of the European Union.

Centre-left values are serving to make globalization tolerable to many ordinary people, thus ensuring its success, and the centre-left is developing answers for people who are seeking more control over their own lives and greater accountability from institutions. Centre-left parties across Europe are now applying the historic values of the left to new dynamic markets.

Why we need a new social morality for the Nineties

It is important to remove the barriers which prevent people from achieving their full potential, and the condition of ordinary people must be improved. Only in this way will real prosperity be achieved. Creating a decent and strong community is the best way to ensure that people fulfill their potential.
