Divided housing market bodes ill

Article Abstract:

Significant imbalances are emerging in the UK housing market. Prices are rising to record levels in London, England, and the South-east, while in other parts of the country estate agents are unable to sell some houses at all, even at very low prices. Estate agency FDP Savills believes that this problem will worsen. Prices in the South-east are set to rise by 10% in 2000, while in the North and Yorkshire and Humberside prices will rise by only 2%, deflation in real terms.
