Boots close to 100m Do It All sell-off

Article Abstract:

Boots' Do It All unit appeared poised on 6 July 1998 to be disposed of amid speculation that RMC is the favourite to purchase the UK-based do it yourself (DIY) business, which reported a GB 2.5mn operating profit. RMC, which owns DIY chain Great Mills, is understood to have submitted an offer worth approximately GB 100mn and such a move is viewed as logical given that Do It All has outlets across the UK while Great Mills' strength lies in the south east and west of England. Boots' sale is in line with its strategy of shutting the worst performing businesses down and making enhancements to the operations which it is looking to offload.
