Britain's first feel-good building

Article Abstract:

The Bristol Royal Society for the Blind financed architectural research for the design of a centre for visually impaired people. The design team from Alec French Partnership wore special glasses and goggles for several days, including a day on public transport in London, England. They became aware of hazards such as changing levels and confusing lighting. Blind people advised on the plans. Acoustics were an important consideration. Contrasting colours, tactile aids and information in Braille were provided.
