British Airways becomes a campaign issue
Article Abstract:
The current conflict between the UK and the European Commission about whether the UK should approve a planned alliance between British Airways and American Airlines has become a very sensitive political issue. In particular, it has been taken up by Eurosceptics, who feel that the UK should stand firm against the European Commission. However, the key factors in the planned deal are really to do with UK domestic policy, rather than with Europe. These include the influence of industry in the political process and how privatisation was undertaken.

The Euro-sceptic lie about why we fought Hitler
Article Abstract:
Eurosceptics in the UK tend to use the two world wars of the 20th century as a justification for their suspicion of the European Union. They argue that the UK became involved in these wars in order to fight off the threat of German invasion, and claim that there is a danger of the European Union developing into a German-dominated superstate. In fact, the argument that the UK entered these wars to protect her sovereignty is the opposite of the truth.
