The idea of combining business and sport is very attractive, according to Clubhaus Chief Executive Charlie Parker. He emphasizes the need to overcome the traditional view of golf as an elitist sport, and is seeking to widen the appeal of membership of Clubhaus courses. He is very motivated by the fact that he is working in a business sector where clients are enjoying themselves. He believes that there is considerable potential for combining golf with lifestyle activities such as fitness centres.

Pharmaceutical companies are beginning to recognize that there is significant profit potential in developing drugs to treat diseases associated with ageing, such as Alzheimer's disease and diabetes. Anti-ageing researchers are focusing particularly on finding a cure for dementia, which affects one in 20 people over 65 and one in three over 85. The most interesting area of research is into telomeres, which play a significant role in ageing.
