Cheap beer and tax cuts for UK plc

Article Abstract:

UK chancellor Kenneth Clarke is very aware that his forthcoming Budget will have to contain tax cuts if the Conservative party is to have any chance of winning the next general election. This has been common in previous years, and has always attracted criticism from the Labour party. However, 1995 will be different because the Labour party too seems to have become a party of tax cuts. It is likely that shadow chancellor Gordon Brown will announce a number of plans for making ordinary people wealthier in his speech of reply to the Budget.

Off with her talking head!

Article Abstract:

The decision by the Princess of Wales to appear on television to discuss details of her private life will bring yet more embarrassment to the Royal Family, especially as she failed to obtain permission first. She has clearly breached protocol, and should not be allowed to remain a member of the Royal Family any longer. She has been the victim of a great deal of negative publicity and untrue rumours, but has also by her own actions shown her unsuitability as a member of the Royal Family.

Bonnie Prince John rides off to Utopia

Article Abstract:

John Redwood's new Conservative 2000 think tank is in fact a disguised attempt to put forward an alternative government of the Right. He still hopes to become Conservative party leader, advocating a kind of modern Restoration. His main social aim is the creation of a society made up of responsible and free families.
