Dangerous myth of the Zulu warrior

Article Abstract:

South African Zulu prince and Inkatha leader Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi is more popular with the white population of his country than with the black. He preaches peace and good faith but fails to honour them. Nelson Mandela and Mr de Klerk have reached a consensus on national unity which earned them a joint peace award from President Clinton on Jul 04, 1993. The whites believe power will be contested between black political organisations in the future, so choose the organisation they perceive preferable. However, Buthelezi is an African despot.

Trapped in the web of military power

Article Abstract:

Former South African intelligence officer Colonel Gert Hugo has stated that contingency plans for a white military takeover exist. Hugo resigned in July 1991 after 12 years in military intelligence. He states that he received a message from Pretoria in early 1990 shortly after Melson Mandela's release detailing plans for a coup. Hugo believes that Pres de Klerk is powerless as the real power lies in the hands of the Defence Force. Hugo claims that the Special Forces are causing political violence which has claimed 7,000 lives since 1990.

South Africa's war of nerves

Article Abstract:

ANC leaders condemn the government and Mr Mandela believes that Mr de Klerk's lack of action proves his disdain for the value of black life, and that he prioritises keeping the white majority's power. Townships are feeling anti-white and ready for battle. ANC wish the government to instigate controls on hostels and weapons before they consider resuming negotiations.
