Death of The Street

Article Abstract:

Significant social problems have arisen in parts of Salford, England. There are particular difficulties in Reservoir Street and four neighbouring streets, where many people have moved away and their homes are now boarded up, a target for vandals and arsonists. Those who remain in the area feel that the problems began when a single mother with uncontrollable children moved into Reservoir Street and began operating as a prostitute from home. Further difficulties were caused when the local council began moving problem residents out of council estates.

Inside the village of hate

Article Abstract:

A hate-mail campaign has been waged in the quiet village of Countesthorpe, England, since May 1997. Some 50 posters accusing six local residents of immoral behaviour have been put up secretly at prominent locations in the village since that time. There is now growing concern that the person responsible for this campaign will disrupt the forthcoming wedding of a young couple who are related to the six victims. Accusations have also been made in poison-pen letters about other local people.

The battle of Hell Bay

Article Abstract:

The residents of Bryher, one of the Scilly Isles, fear that Robert Dorrien-Smith, who leases the larger nearby island of Tresco from the Duchy of Cornwall, is about to threaten their independence. These fears began in 1999, when Dorrien-Smith purchased Bryher's only hotel.
