Dome, sweet Dome

Article Abstract:

It is not yet certain how the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, London, England, will affect house prices in the area. However, it is clear that significant developments will take place in the local property market in 1999, especially as a result of the Docklands Light Railway and the Jubilee Line extension. Estate agents report that Greenwich is now attracting younger, professional house purchasers. Those who cannot afford to purchase a property in Greenwich itself should consider areas around the edge of Greenwich, such as Charlton.

Battle for the right to build

Article Abstract:

The UK's leading housebuilders believe that a shortage of housing could emerge because of problems with local planning regulations. They indicate that planning regulations are causing considerable delays, and that this could in turn mean that the UK government's target of 4.4 million new homes by 2016 is not met. Environmental campaigners and planners also acknowledge that the planning process is ineffective and that changes are required.

Convenience, but at what cost?

Article Abstract:

Stricter fire resistance regulations for domestic upholstered furniture and furnishings prompted many landlords in London, England, to leave properties unfurnished. This in turn boosted demand for rented furniture. This can be a cost-effective option for large firms relocating employees from abroad.
