Drugs: ads are not the answer

Article Abstract:

The recent death of 18-year-old Leah Betts after taking a single Ecstasy tablet has prompted the use of her picture in an anti-drugs advertising campaign. This campaign is designed to speak directly to the 3 million people who regularly use Ecstasy in the UK, and is careful not to be patronising. However, some observers feel that this approach will not be successful. It will reinforce the views of people who have decided not to take drugs, but is very unlikely to convince drug users to give up.
